So the school semester came to a close, Christmas came and went, and new policy has came with the New Year.
California is in for the big win/win for 2011. As of today, a marijuana possession charge is the equivalent of a traffic ticket.
“Legislation by Sen. Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, reduces the penalty for marijuana possession of 28.5 grams or less to the equivalent of a traffic ticket. The offense is now deemed an infraction, carrying a $100 maximum fine.”

With this law passed, thousands of people, more than 60,000 a year, will be spared a criminal record and no longer will have to appear in court, saving California millions.
And more importantly (forgive my previous selfishness) there’s been a health coverage reform in the works for the Golden State, and now insurers are offering child only coverage.
While this could do so much for beginning families, the reform doesn’t stop insurers from charging more for this particular coverage.
Given that no such laws exists in the state I live in, I have to be grateful that such liberal policies are even allowed in the United States. They’re not nearly as rapidly accepted as one would’ve hoped. But, at least [finally] they’re becoming widespread ideas.
